Abnormal HTML characters prevented your form from saving correctly

We have a grandfathered license for Formidable Pro and are using version 2.04.01.

I am trying to edit the the html in the html field. Very specifically, I am trying to make ANY edit to ANY html form. It seems to me that this should work if I have a grandfathered license, but we just keep getting the error "Abnormal HTML characters prevented your form from saving correctly".

We have taken the following steps and none of them fixed the issue.

  • Deactivated all plugins.
  • Remove the "HTML 5" checkbox in the setting.
  • Change the permissions in the settings sections so more than just administrators could change the form.
  • Downloaded a clean version of the plugin and uploaded it to the site.
  • Checked for errors in the console.

Renewing the license is an expensive option for us because of the number of sites we have using formidable. Can anyone think of anything else that might work?

Thanks!

Here are a few thoughts.

Are you using any kind of multi-language or translator plugin on the site? Some of these plugins can conflict with Formidable.

Check if Formidable or any of your addons have a warning/error that it has an upgrade, or if you need to enter in a license. Having an add-on without a license can cause this error.

I am also running 2.04.01 and and grandfathered license, I have no problem making changes and saving them to the HTML in form settings so something else is causing your problem. Victor has some good suggestions, if you want you can send a copy of your form and I'll see if I can edit it?

Cheers

Bob

Victor, I deactivated all plugins and it still didn't let me edit the form. The only addon we are using is a MailChimp Formidable plugin and it says it is "good to go".

Bob, how could we send you a copy of the form? Do you work for formidable?

Thank you both!!!

Hi Liz,

No I don't work for Formidable, I just develop web sites.

If you go to the formidable menu in wordpress, you can export a form as an XML file, if you attach it to this discussion I can download it. If you would rather keep it private, email the file to me at [email protected].
