Can Formidable be used as a Student Application "portal"
I couldn't find a sales contact (or any contact for that matter... which makes me a little apprehensive about purchasing Formidable to begin with), so I'm posting my question on here. I would like to know if Formidable can be used as a student application submission, payment, and back-end management tool?
We're looking to help a potential client have a nice WordPress site for their College and to allow students to apply to the school, make a payment, and possibly write to a database where they can manage the applications.
Anyone using Formidable for this?

I created an entire application system for the University of Washington's STEM program., So yes, anything you can envision a form doing, can be done with Formidable if you know how.

Thanks Victor! Good to know.
Could you provide a few more details about what features you had and if they were built with Formidable's out-of-the-box tools (Enterprise edition, I'm guessing?) or were they custom programmed using their API?
Is there some kind of back-end management of submissions included in Formidable or did you have to custom program that?

Building an application with Formidable, whether with or without custom code, is a condition of the elicited requirements. In my case, one requirement called for a complete audit trail history of every data change, no matter how insignificant. This required custom coding and tables. There was a requirement to create a custom extract for the US Dept. of Education. One requirement also called for multiple many-to-one relationships, such as parents to students (if more than one child enrolled in the program), and students to courses. At the time, repeatable fields didn't exist in Formidable, so it was a lot of custom work. Today, you have repeatable fields that could make the job easier.
As for back-end management, yes, you can manage entries on the back-end out of the box. You can't manage custom table entries out of the back-end. That would be custom work.
As you approach this project, you can save yourself a lot of heartache if you make certain the requirements are nailed down before you start the work. Fluid requirements always lead to design changes and rework, and may cost you money if the client thinks they don't have to pay for change orders.
Formidable is a highly capable tool. I have been using it for a long time. As it continues to evolve, it keeps getting better and better. Projects I worked on in the early days that required a lot of custom program would require a lot less effort today because of Formidable's evolution and the great efforts of the Formidable developers. Learn how to use WordPress hooks if you want to get the maximum benefit out of this tool. Enjoy the experience.
