I thought that I'd let the folks at Formidable know that I had put together a new plugin called Formidable GeoLocations. It'll take the location from a specified field (or set of fields) for either an address or longitude and latitude, then allow for a user to search against those fields for an entry close to themselves (it can also use the location set by buddypress profile geolocations, also created by us, or the user's current location to compare it against). This can be used for a list of shops, clubs, or whatever a user can think of.

I thought that I'd let you know about this premium addon for your list.

Hi. With the ability to search for entries with a location within a specified proximity of the current user:

1. Does it show a list of entries via fumble's custom view; and

2. Are the list of entries sorted in ascending distance from a specified lat/long coordinate?

1. It uses the views packaged in formidable for defining how the entries will list and show. Its not a prepackaged version of views. Its the actual formidable views. In the search it filters out the results that are not in the proximity. There will be more features in future revisions to add, well, more capability as well.

2. Unfortunately there was a limitation in that it couldn't be sorted while using formidable's views. In future versions we may take another look at this to find another way around it so as to allow them to be sorted by ascending distance. Depending, of course, on sales and demand for the feature. Right now though it just isn't possible. I also want this feature for my own sites though... so it is high on the list for when we return to this plugin for its next version. :)
