get param not working for numbers in dynamic dropdown

I have a dynamic dropdown menu that has numbers and text in it and I'm using [get param=fVipNo] for default.  Whenever I select a number from dropdown and submit to same page, it doesn't show in dropdown text field, but if I select text, it shows in dropdown text field.  I did an experiment.  I made fVipNo equal the option value instead of the actual number and actual number showed in dropdown text field.

Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.
