How do you validate a confirmation field with Formidable API Add-on?

I am using a confirmation field with an email field.  When the confirmation step is enabled I am unable to create new entries with Formidable API.  When I disable the confirmation field the new entry is created as expected.  I don't see anything in the docs mentioning this behavior, or how to handle confirmation fields.  What am I missing?
