Serialized meta

Has anyone had success saving serialized meta? I have a media placeholder/field added to the wordpress profiles by the theme I am using. It can be saved per user/author to show on the author archives. I am trying to map it to the front end form. Any ideas? I've attached how it's saved.

If you want to map this to the front end, one approach would be to unserialize the value in the frm_setup_new_fields_vars hook and apply the values to the target fields.
